Seperation | Anxiety says...
Good evening, fellow OFDR members.
THE ANNOUNCEMENT
I am pleased to announce that after three months of after-work programming and map making, I will soon be unveiling a thirteen-level campaign for both Single Player and Cooperative game modes.
This campaign will span the entire gamut of objective-based gameplay; from special forces sabotage, to take-and-hold, to assassination and more. The entire campaign is designed for Coop, but can be played in Single Player.
THE CAMPAIGN
"Cant Be Done" is the campaign I will be submitting to the user community in the next week or so. "Cant Be Done", or CBD, is a new approach to the OFDR2 world. Instead of issuing checkpoints, players must rely on each other to survive the battlefield and arrive alive. The added challenge of a checkpoint-less level induces a new level of battlefield reality much as the heightened sense of survival was attained while most players played games such as Counter-Strike. The thought that "this is the only life I have to live" becomes reality in this action-packed addition to the OFDR world.
In CBD, players work together as part of a team that ranges from a specialist 4-player team to a full-sized Marine rifle squad. Battle with friends or alone for every square kilometer of East Skira as you fight against seemingly insurmountable odds and against all hope.
Rest assured that each level has been checked and thoroughly tested to ensure that it is playable, reliable, and most importantly, fun. Each level CAN be completed without dying. How you get there is entirely up to you, and your team.
THE QUESTION TO THE USER COMMUNITY
As I do not have another PC capable of running the game, nor frequent online access, I would like to ask the community to see if there are any special requirements for enabling Coop gameplay on your maps.
For me, I have set the number of players to 4 (the coop max), the game type Cooperative is ticked (white, enabled), and there are multiple "Multiplayer Playable" characters in each map to control.
Can anyone think of anything that I might be missing?
I know that OFDR fans like new maps, so I don't want to disappoint everyone by releasing something prematurely and it contain an error. For the larger part, though, I have worked out most of the kinks as I see them.
I welcome your feedback and your suggestions.
I will be uploading a 6-minute trailer of this campaign to either here or YouTube shortly, and I will reply to this post with the link for anyone interested in checking this out. To keep things semi-secret, levels 12 and 13 are not featured in the preview teaser, so you will still have something unexpected to look forward to.
More news in the coming week.
Until then.
